Cafe Oceano – Albifeira Old Town

Located overlooking the beach in Old Town, Cafe Oceano is a Frost Family favourite. We have been coming here for years, and it’s no surprise why. The food is almost always amazing, the staff are lovely and genuinely seem to remember you each year, and the view is gorgeous, especially as the sun is setting.

We usually opt for the paella, which is always adorned with a plethora of seafood; mussels, clams and massive prawns. It is for a minimum of two people, and the portions are extremely generous.

This year, I went for the grilled sea bass opting for chips rather than new potatoes. The fish was perfectly cooked and seasoned with a little salt, really bringing out the flavour. It was easy to fillet and remove the bones and was extremely filling. The eye was a little gross though!

Mum opted for the lamb chops, with salad and chips. The pork chops came naked (despite a photograph on the wall of them covered in a delicious looking gravy) however they were well cooked, if a little on the small side.

Dad went for fillet steak, medium. Again really well cooked and seasoned and no fat whatsoever.

I also cheekily went for a dessert, even though I was full. I chose the pistachio ice cream, a firm favourite of mine. The crushed pistachios on top were a little rubbery but the dessert on the whole was great.

The best thing about this restaurant is the relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. The tables are a little squashed together and don’t leave a lot of room for the waiters to walk between though, so try to get a table at the front or to the side. The view is well worth it! The meal came to €60, for 3 mains, 4 large beers and 2 G&Ts.

Also, directly opposite the restaurant is the perfect place for a Frost Family photo, it’s been done for years, and I hope for many more to come!
