Schwartz Fajita Seasoning Review

I love fajitas and usually opt to make my own spice blend which can be time consuming.
For a weekday dinner this Schwartz fajita seasoning is perfect to grab off the shelf, chuck into a pan with your ingredients and let it sizzle away. It is available from Tesco and retails at just £1.60. You’ll get at least four 4 person meals from this little 46g jar making it 10p per person per meal.

Schwartz Fajita Seasoning

Schwartz are well known for making delicious spice blends and this is no different.
The Schwartz packaging re-brand they recently had is really bright and eye catching meaning that it stands out from all my other spices, making it jump out from my spice rack. The fajita seasoning inside is really flavourful with a hint of lemon and coriander which I really liked. The other strong flavour I get from this is nutmeg, reminding me more of all spice than a traditional fajita mix and I like this twist. The only allergen in it is mustard and it is gluten free. It has a hint of spice but won’t blow your head off. It is mildly warming and perfect for all the family. It is really versatile and can be used on chicken, beef, veggies and much more. Experiment with it to see how many combos you can make.

Lemon fajita chicken

It gives a gorgeous golden colour to the chicken too rather than the dull grey of some spice mixes I have used.

Here are a few ideas on how you can use it:

Make fajitas with chicken, onions, peppers, guacamole, salsa.
Make breaded chicken fillets and mix the spice in with the breadcrumbs.
Use the seasoning to add spice to your favourite meatball recipe.
Sprinkle on steak to add a hint of extra flavour.
Make your own home cooked sweet potato fries and sprinkle this over.

I thought I would make a recipe to give you an idea of what you could do with this. This is fantastic to pop in your lunch box for a quick easy working lunch. See below

Fajita pitta

1 x yellow pepper
Baby gem lettuce

Zest of 1 lemon
2 tbsp lemon juice
A few stalks of coriander
Pitta bread or tortilla wraps

Method
Cut your chicken into strips and cover with 2 tbsp of Schwartz fajita seasoning.
Fry on a low heat with a little oil until cooked through, then turn up the heat and char the chicken slightly.
Lightly toast two pitta breads and slice open.
Finely slice your peppers and avocado and layer then inside the pitta.
Mix 2 tbsp of mayonnaise with the juice and zest of the lemon. Mix in some chopped coriander.
Add this, and the chicken into the pitta or wrap and enjoy a deliciously warming, Mexican dinner!
