My Bucket List

In around 2013 I started a bucket list with bucketlist.org. I have been really lucky to tick off some of my top ones over the last 18 months. Most notably visiting Thailand and seeing a Cirque Du Soleil show. So I thought I would give you my new top 10 and the reasoning behind them. So in no particular order:

This beautiful natural light show fascinates me no end. Ever since I was a child and saw of picture of them (it may even have been on Encarta 98) I have wanted to see them for myself. I will go anywhere in the world to see them, but I could combine them with a trip to…

They have lava caves, hot springs, ice hotels, the Blue Lagoon, volcanoes and the Northern Lights. Why wouldn’t you want to go there?

My maternal Grandmother (Or Mütti to myself and my sister) was German. Years ago I learnt the language at school but it is so rusty. I would love to learn again and visit the town my Mütti grew up in and walk the same streets she did.

I have been to Paris 3 times over the last 10 years but have never been to see the famous cabaret show. How can this be? Well it is about 200 euro per person for dinner and the show and I have never been in a position to afford it. I definitely need to tick it off one day though.

I went snorkelling in Thailand last year for the first time and it was incredible. The sights in the ocean were amazing and I can’t describe them accurately enough. However, if snorkelling impressed me, imagine how stunning scuba diving would be. I met people in Thailand that showed me pictures and videos of their dives and wow.

I am terrified of heights. Even just thinking about skydiving makes my palms sweaty and my stomach flip. However this is something I have wanted to do for years, ideally for a charity close to my heart.

The sounds, the colours, the music. It all looks amazing.

I love travelling and one of the top places on my bucket list is Japan. I’d love to eat proper sushi, instead of the stuff we get in the UK and I would love to catch a glimpse of a geisha. The mystery and beauty of these women intrigue me immensely. Visiting temples, the Hiroshima peace memorial and the golden pavilion are ones to tick off too.

I would love to witness the villages that were preserved by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Having studied this at school it is probably one of the most fascinating places I would love to visit. I would love to see Herculaneum too.

I love to plan my trips with military precision. I love to read guide books and tripadvisor recommendations. This would just be a spontaneous trip with none of the planning and would probably take me to somewhere I hadn’t ever considered.

So there’s 10 things… from a bucket list of hundreds. What’s on yours??

No! God I wish I could afford to. I’m trying to save for a house deposit too which is probably going to hinder my travel in 2018
